Diversity Home

Diversity is a high-priority topic found throughout the N.C. Bar Association's five-year strategic plan, Momentum 2010. As a result of the plan, a task force was created by members of the diversity committees, including Women in the Profession Committee, Latino Affairs Committee and Minorities in the Profession, as well as members of the Membership Committee. The task force spent its first year creating a diversity report outlining the manner in which it would like to attain its goals of greater diversity in the profession and greater diversity in the Association.

To read the Final Report of the Diversity Task Force, approved by the Board of Governors on October 27, 2007, please click here.

The first initiative of the Diversity Task Force is the development of Pathways to Inclusion Leadership Academy, designed to provide leadership training to selected attorneys from diverse backgrounds (including gender, race, ethnicity, size of firm, geographic location, practice setting, etc.) who aspire to develop the skills needed to serve state and local organizations and/or underserved communities. Five scholars will be selected for the class, and the submission deadline for applications is April 15, 2009. To see the full application, please click here.

The Diversity Web site is dedicated to providing a Web presence for the Disability, Hispanic and Latino Lawyers, Minorities in the Profession, Race Relations and Women in the Profession committees of the North Carolina Bar Association.
