The 1L Summer Associate Program (SAP) is a signature program of the NCBA's Minorities in the Profession Committee.  For more than 20 years, some of the brightest and most talented minority law students have been placed with law firms and corporate legal departments for summer work experiences.

SAP seeks to attract the best and brightest legal talent including candidates whose life experiences, demonstrated interests, and achievements can help enhance our employers’ commitments to diversity, inclusion and excellence. While academic and other requirements vary by employer, SAP candidates are generally at the top of their class, academically motivated, and involved in numerous extracurricular activities.

Only first year students at all seven of North Carolina’s law schools are eligible to participate.  Law school career services offices are responsible for selecting three qualified candidates to participate in the interview process which will take place at Poyner & Spruill’s Raleigh office on Friday, February 14, 2014.

The following employers have confirmed their participation in this year’s program.  Additional employers may be added prior to interviews on February 14th:

Cranfill Sumner & Hartzog
Duke Energy
Fresh Market
Glaxo Smith Kline (2 positions)
K&L Gates
Lawyer’s Mutual
Local Government FCU
Poyner Spruill
